The March for Life in Washington, D.C. is by far the largest single assembly of life-affirming people in America each year. Historically, busses carrying St. Louisans to D.C. have been captained by Roman Catholic champions of life, and therefore understandably tend to lean heavily toward Roman Catholic teaching and style in their on-bus activities.

For 2011, Churches for Life worked with two of its St. Louis Life Teams to put together an explicitly “Evangelical bus” to D.C.. This effort was made in no way as a sleight against the Roman Catholic community! The “Evangelical bus” was an attempt to ensure that the content, teaching, and worship on this particular bus were Evangelical-friendly. In so doing, Evangelicals riding the Evangelical bus could find deep communion in Christ and with one another under a shared, robust, and explicit Evangelical faith.
In addition, forming an Evangelical bus helped give Evangelical pastors of participating churches assurance in promoting the concept and encouraging their people to get on board. One church was such a champion that they offered over $1,000 in rider scholarships. The results of protecting this Evangelical bus were wonderfully sweet, as can be seen in the pictures and video testimonies from the trip.
