So, you’re thinking about leading a Life Team? Great! Read on to figure out the leadership role is right for you.
First, relax. You don’t need to be perfect to be a Life Team Leader (LTL). But you do need to have some gifting by God to thrive in that role. If you can agree with the following statements, you’re a good candidate to become a LTL:
- I know and trust Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
- I am wiling to be initially trained and regularly encouraged by Churches for Life.
- I have an interest in life issues.
- I want to lead.
- I have some leadership ability. I’ve successfully guided people to a goal before.
- I can give at least 1 hour per week to my role as LTL, not including the regular monthly meeting.
- I am known and trusted by my church leaders.
- I have the emotional and spiritual headroom to be a LTL. That is, I’m not already overcommitted or facing too many personal demands.
As you’re thinking this through, it might help to look at a basic list of LTL responsibilities:
- Get initially trained (live or by DVD, 4 hours total)
- Receive regular encouragement and mentoring from CFL
- Cast vision to potential Life Team members
- Call, convene, and run Life Team meetings
- Encourage and focus the Team on a regular basis
- Act as liaison between the Team and church leadership
- Manage the Team’s budget, if entrusted with one
